IBM 3570 Tape Subsystem, Drives


Unveiled in 1996, the IBM 3570 Magstar MP was the first small-form-factor, midpoint-load tape device. This marked the introduction of a track-following, timing-based servo and other advancements that leveraged the technology of IBM disk storage. The IBM 3570 Magstar MP tape subsystem set a new standard for midrange tape performance for data backup and recovery.

The Magstar MP 3570 attaches to AS/400, RS/6000, HP, Windows NT, Sun, and other SCSI-attached systems. The IBM 3570 features Fast Access Linear Tape that delivers quicker data access for applications like network storage management, data warehousing, and digital libraries.

IBM 3570 models B00, B01, B02, B11, B12, B21 and B22 were withdrawn December 31, 1999, while models C00, C01, C02, C11, C12, C21 and C22 were withdrawn December 27, 2002.
