IBM 3583 Tape Library


The IBM 3583 Tape Library delivers an impressive high performance, high capacity tape storage solution. Intended for a wide variety of environments, the IBM 3583 also offers configuration flexibility – choose between 18-, 36-, or 72-slot configurations. You can also choose an optional 12-cartridge I/O station as needed (standard one-cartridge I/O station included).

The IBM 3583 Tape Library is compatible with LTO2 or LTO3 drives, and backwards-compatibility of the LTO3 drives mean you can enjoy the cost-savings of using LTO2 and LTO1 cartridges while enjoying the advantages of LTO3 technology.

The IBM 3583 Tape Library offers three models, the IBM 3583-L18, 3583-L36, and 3583-L72.

The IBM 3583 Model L18 features:

  • Native Capacity per Cartridge: 400GB

  • Data Capacity per Library (native/compressed): 14.4TB/28.8TB
