The IBM TotalStorage ESS 800 has been architected to deliver excellent performance with dual cluster RISC SMP processors, a large cache and serial disk attachment. For mission critical business applications, the ESS 800 uses redundant hardware and mirrored write caches and RAID -5 AND RAID -10 protection for disks.
The ESS 800 also supports speedy data transfer rates with attached hosts through ESCON, FICON, Fibre Channel, 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel/FICON or Ultra SCSI. The ESS 800 scales from 582 GB to 55.9 TB. The cache size is customizable to meet your enterprise needs, allowing for 8, 16, 32 or 64 GB caches.
Advanced copy functions include FlashCopy v1, FlashCopy v2, Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy v1, and Peer-to-Peer Remote Copy v2.
