The IBM System X3650 M4 is a great solution for various applications such as virtual desktop, virtualization, internal cloud, big data, SAP, High performance computing (in nodes) and data management applications.

IBM X3650 M4 Server Features and Overview: The flagship IBM System X Series Server, the IBM X3650 supports up to 16 internal Hard Disk Drives and Tape drives, making it a 2U server capable of storing up to 25.6 TB internal storage. Better RAS design than the X3630 models and perhaps the broadest capabilities of handling IT business solutions from cloud and VMS to HPC and email/file/print servers (if very powerful solutions are needed there). This is a great system if room to grow is anticipated, as it is easily upgraded and cost effective up front. 

The new X3650 M4 HD servers are optimized for data analytics and dense storage (up to 41.6TB of internal disk!), allowing for use of the 3650 in big data and the serving of video and web apps, while also being a great choice for analytics (such as SAP) and database management. 

The HD version of the 3650 offers up to 12 cores per CPU, HA, 12GB RAI on the mother board, plus fast and dense memory (up to 1866Mhz / 30MB cache) for monster VMs, virtualization and apps. The X3650 M4 HD servers compares favorably with the HP DL380p Gen8 Servers as well as the Dell PowerEdge R720xd models.
