The Dell PowerEdge 6800 is powered by twin 2.66 GHZ processors with 2 1MB cache on each core. Coming as one of the company’s largest servers in their lineup, the Dell PowerEdge 6800 still manages to sport a compact chassis that is relatively smaller than its other rivals in the same class such as the ProLiant DL580.
The front panel of the Dell PowerEdge 6800 is fitted with two large grilles that are primarily responsible for the overall cooling of the chassis and complete this task seamlessly with the help of hot swap cooling fans.
In between the grilles, the Dell PowerEdge 6800 is a five bay hot swap drive enclosure. The Dell PowerEdge 6800 is compatible with the optional Logic Ultra SCSI controller, which delivers a pair of channels that can be wired to the backplane of the chassis. on the standard arrival however, the Dell PowerEdge 6800 comes with a Perc RAID controller backed by 128 cache memory and is complete with a battery backup unit.
There are also two large passive heatsinks to ensure the Dell PowerEdge 6800 doesn’t break a sweat. The system memory of the PowerEdge 6800 is stashed away in in four riser cards within the back panel, and you can also opt for the memory RAID feature.
