Dell PowerEdge T710 Product Review

The Dell PowerEdge t710 offers a remarkable expansion potential, and is regarded as the largest pedestal servers available in the market today. A great replacement to the aging PE 2900, the PowerEdge t710 is designed to put its superb chassis to work by offering a high storage capacity, supreme I/O potential, better management and monitoring facilities and plenty of redundancy.

The PowerEdge t710 is an ideal solution for enterprises running mission critical apps and virtualization and corporate workgroups. The chassis of the Dell PowerEdge t710 measures in at an impressive 70cms, and each one of them has proved to be extremely fruitful.

Storage options of the PowerEdge t710 are of its notable features as behind the gun metal bezel reveals a pair of drive bays that are each able to accommodate eight SATA and SAS hard disks. The system generally arrives with 146 GB worth of SAS drives, but you can always top that off with a total of eight 3.5 inch drives.

In terms of RAID options, the PowerEdge t710 is appointed with an entry-level SAS 6/iR card that supports stripes and mirrors for up to eight 3.5 SAS and SATA drives. If you do opt for than more than eight drives, you will need a PERC 6/i controller that supports RAID 5 & 6.

On the side, the Dell PowerEdge t710 sports a lockable side panel that prevents access to the front panel and its included hot swap drive bays. The cable free design of the PowerEdge t710 gives it its finishing touches and enhances its overall appeal.
