Dell PowerEdge 2970 Product Review

The Dell PowerEdge 2970 is set in a 2U chassis and boasts some of the best storage capabilities in the market. It can support up to eight SAS 2.5 inch hot plug hard disks, which are extremely cost effective over 3.5 inch disks as they consume over 50% less power.

The Dell PowerEdge 2970 is also available in an all green version complete with a 2 GHZ HE Opteron processor. Furthermore, consumers opting for the green version of the Dell PowerEdge 2970 can top it off with energy efficient power supplies.

In terms of the front of the Dell PowerEdge 2970, there is room for DVD and floppy drives and a large grille that improves overall airflow through the chassis.

The front panel of the Dell PowerEdge 2970 is also fitted with Dell’s distinctive LCD panel, which allows you to keep track of the temperature and other aspects of the server.

Moving to the interior, the Dell PowerEdge 2970 is extremely tidy and provides easy access to each component. The Dell PowerEdge 2970 comes loaded with a long list of features including a PERC 5i RAID controller combined with 256MB of cache memory and a battery backup pack. This RAID controller is located at the top of the drive bays and is connected through its backplane.
